A random benefit auction idea turns out to be a real-life growing business

George Street in Brooklyn, NY gets a makeover in August 2010.

In late July 2009, you might remember reading my blog post about a benefit auction idea I had for an unusual auction item — learning to drive a bulldozer (or other heavy equipment).  I suggested procuring a 2-hour donation from your nearby Heavy Equipment Training Academy.

Then in October 2009, you might have caught the follow-up blog post with photos.

It turns out that in last month’s Entrepreneur magazine (June 2010), “Dig This” is one of the companies featured.

Guess what Dig This is?

It’s a company geared towards heavy equipment adventure tourism; an amusement park for those who want to operate a bulldozer, dump truck, etc.  You can watch the video on their website.

WOW!

That renegade idea I had for an auction donation is a full-fledged, money-making company which is expanding into new markets.

What better proof that this is a great item to procure for your charity auction if it’s already established itself as a growing business.

Climb into the saddle seat and get ready to dig.
