October 2011: CASA of Greater Prince William draws 1,000 supporters and hits record-setting donations, despite weather-related venue change.
“Evening Under the Stars” has been the most well-attended charity ball in the county, but not necessarily the most profitable.Red Apple Auctions was hired to change that.

September 2011: Rappahannock County School Foundation Scores More Than 100% at Annual Fundraiser
Charity auctioneer Sherry Truhlar led a live auction that hit 107% return on investment for the charity. Read the press release here.

For those who lack the time to follow Twitter, Paper.li is a good option. The website “organizes links shared on Twitter into an easy to read newspaper-style format. “ People can create a newspaper around a user, list, or a hashtag (#). The Volunteer Meme paper, which was launched by a Canadian group called “Seeing Change,” used Truhlar’s article (published on 501Connect.com) as a lead story.

September 2010: Headwaters Foundation attributes record-breaking auction to Red Apple Auctions in an interview published in Rappahannock News.
Toni Egger, Headwaters executive director states, “I really credit them [Red Apple Auctions] with smartening us up about how to run an effective and efficient event,” she said. “They more than paid for themselves.”

July 2010: Benefit auctioneer Sherry Truhlar, CMP, BAS speaks at CMP Conclave 2010 in Baltimore, MD on “Website Secrets for Savvy Planners.”
The CMP Conclave is an annual conference of Certified Meeting Professionals (CMPs) from around the globe. The professional designation is overseen by the Convention Industry Council. It’s believed that Sherry is the only professional charity auctioneer who has also earned the CMP credentials. Those earning the designation must demonstrate advanced knowledge and proficiency in event management.

July 2010: VolunteerSpot is an online application to quickly mobilize and coordinate volunteers.
Sherry has been asked to guest blog on the site and provide benefit auction advice, inspiration, and ideas. Her latest post suggests a popular live auction idea and is titled “Fresh Food Brings More Funds to the Table.”

Two clients were featured in the spring 2010 Capitol File magazine. The Greater Washington Region Heart Ball organized by the American Heart Association had a side column in the magazine, and the Passion for Charity Gala organized by Capital Hospice was included in the In Focus section.

March 2010: The Eleusis of Chi Omega, the publication produced by Chi Omega Fraternity, spotlighted fundraising auctioneer Sherry Truhlar in its “Chi Omegas Flourish” section.

Fall 2009: The Virginia Auctioneer magazine recaps winners from 32nd Annual State Champion Contest; thanks speakers.
Seventeen Virginia auctioneers competed in the 32nd Annual Champion Auctioneer’s Contest August 1, 2009 in Richmond, VA. Fundraising auctioneer Sherry Truhlar, the only female competitor, placed third. June 2009: The Georgetowner highlights Red Apple Auctions in its social scene section
Six days a week, Food and Friends delivers three meals a day to more than 1,400 individuals living with life-challenging illnesses such as AIDS and cancer. The non-profit’s annual gala is almost as complex, with over 1,000 guests sampling food from 50 chefs at the annual Chef’s Best gala. The Georgetowner’s reporter Mary Bird observed as the Red Apple Auctions team oversaw the auction-related activities. Read Mary’s post here.
May 2009: Sherry Truhlar, BAS conducts first auction for American Society of Association Executives (ASAE)
The May 2009 issue of AUCTIONEER magazine, the official publication of the National Auctioneers Association (NAA), updated its members about NAA’s work with the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). ASAE’s inaugural benefit auction was conducted by benefit auctioneer Sherry Truhlar at ASAE’s annual Springtime Expo trade show. The results of the auction were successful, and ASAE is now interested in conducting a live benefit auction at its annual meeting to be held in Toronto in August. Read the news brief here.
April 16, 2009: Red Apple Auctions invited to sell at first-ever ASAE Springtime Expo auction
Benefit auctioneer Sherry Truhlar worked with the National Auctioneers Association in its collaboration with ASAE and the Center for Association Leadership in its first-ever benefit auction. The auction was held in Washington, D.C. during the organization’s Springtime Expo, the largest one-day show in the meetings industry. Truhlar worked the booth during the day, talking with meeting planners about the advantages of incorporating benefit auctions into their existing conferences, and served as the auctioneer at the auction during the after-hours reception. March 22, 2009: Benefit Auctioneer Sherry Truhlar awarded Larry McCool Scholarship
Sherry Truhlar was one of four auctioneers awarded the full tuition Larry McCool Scholarship to attend the Certified Auctioneers Institute (CAI) on the campus of Indiana University this month. The CAI is a three-year executive development program focused on developing the skills and providing the tools necessary to run a top-notch auction firm. Nov. 1, 2008: Sherry Truhlar balances careers as auctioneer and fashion model
Auctioneer magazine, the official publication of the National Auctioneers Association, showcased benefit auctioneer Sherry Truhlar in its monthly magazine. Her story kicked off a series of features examining auctioneers who also maintain interesting part-time jobs. Truhlar contrasts her career as a plus-size fashion model with that of being a benefit auctioneer. The article includes photos from both careers. Sept. 23, 2008: Two Red Apple Auctions clients selected for inclusion as “Washington’s Top 100″ events
Washington-area event professionals, including Red Apple Auctions’ founder Sherry Truhlar, gathered this evening at Sequoia Restaurant in Georgetown to celebrate BizBash Washington’s Top 100 annual events issue. Attendees included leaders and orchestrators of the major D.C. events in categories such as benefits, political and press, holiday, and sporting events. Red Apple Auctions congratulates two of its clients — the Larry King Cardiac Foundation and the Washington Performing Arts Society — who were selected as not-to-be-missed benefits in the D.C. area.
